KCSE 2024 Invigilators and Supervisors Demand Immediate Payment.
Education professionals who supervised the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations have raised concerns over delayed payments. Despite the timely release of exam results, invigilators and supervisors are yet to receive their dues.
This delay has sparked frustration among the affected personnel, who argue that withholding their wages is both unfair and contrary to legal provisions.
Elias Masika, the Interim Chair of the Invigilators Association of Kenya, has called upon the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) to address this issue urgently.
He pointed out that the delayed payment violates Article 41 of the Constitution of Kenya (2010), which guarantees fair labor practices, including timely and fair remuneration.
Furthermore, Section 17 of the Employment Act, 2007 mandates prompt wage payment, a requirement that has been ignored in this case.
Masika also referenced the Fair Administrative Action Act, 2015, which demands swift and just administrative decisions, urging KNEC to uphold these principles.
Call for Immediate Action
Given the crucial role played by invigilators and supervisors in maintaining the integrity of national examinations, Masika urged KNEC to expedite the payment process without further delay.

He emphasized that timely payment is essential for upholding justice and sustaining trust in Kenya’s education sector.
The matter has also been brought to the attention of key government officials, including the Principal Secretary and Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Education, as well as the Chair of the Education Committee in the National Assembly.
Education stakeholders now await KNEC’s response, hoping for a swift resolution to the payment dispute.
