KCSE Results 2024: Countdown Begins as Ministry Issues Latest Statement.

The Ministry of Education has reassured parents and students that the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results will be released on time, maintaining the usual January schedule.

Basic Education Principal Secretary (PS) Belio Kipsang, on Thursday, December 26, 2024, stated that the results would be released within the same timeline as the previous year, addressing growing concerns over potential delays.

PS Kipsang clarified that this is the second consecutive year for January releases, and any speculation of hurried processes is unwarranted. He dismissed allegations of manipulation and assured the public of the results’ integrity.

Dr. Kipsang also emphasized that examiners had been granted sufficient time to ensure accuracy and fairness, ensuring that each student’s grade reflects their four years of dedication.

Stakeholders Call for Policy Changes

Education stakeholders, including the Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KESSHA), are advocating for significant reforms in the education sector.

KESSHA Chair Willy Kuria highlighted the need to abolish school ranking systems, which, he argued, create undue pressure and encourage exam malpractice.

He also called for a review of performance-based teacher promotions, favoring policies that promote holistic student development rather than focusing on a single mean score.

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) is tasked with finalizing the analysis of results for the largest KCSE cohort in history, alongside the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA). KESSHA urged KNEC to uphold transparency in the process.

Current Status and Timeline

PS Kipsang announced on December 26, 2024, that the KCSE results would be ready within 10 days.

As this period has already elapsed, there is a high likelihood that the results could be released at any moment this week. Parents and students across Kenya are eagerly awaiting the outcome.

The Ministry’s commitment to releasing the results promptly reflects its broader efforts to maintain fairness and reliability within the education system.

Despite the increased workload, including handling KPSEA results, KNEC has assured the public of its readiness to deliver.
