Kenya High, Starehe, Alliance and Mangu Among Top Best Schools in 2024 KCSE Examinations.
Leading the 2024 KCSE performance charts in the Nairobi Metropolitan Area were The Kenya High School, Starehe Boys Centre, Alliance Girls High School, Merishaw School, and Mang’u High School.
Nationally, Kapsabet Boys High School, Moi High School Kabarak, and Maseno School also registered commendable performances, with a comprehensive report expected today.
Merishaw School: A Rising Star
Merishaw School in Kajiado County emerged as a surprising entrant among the top performers. Its pioneer class of 52 male candidates achieved a remarkable mean score of A- (10.56). All candidates attained the university pass mark, with seven securing a mean grade of A (plain).
Kenya High School’s Milestone
Kenya High School celebrated an outstanding performance, with 70 students scoring straight As, up from 36 in 2023. The school’s mean score improved to 10.131 from 9.956.
Other results included 114 A-, 93 B+, 48 B, 29 B-, 19 C+, 5 C, 2 C-, and 2 D+. Chief Principal Virginiah Wahome attributed the success to collective hard work, discipline, and teamwork.
Notable achievers included Sarah Khatete, who scored an A with 84 points and intends to pursue a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Nairobi.
Gloria Wangari Ngugi and Nyawera Wahome, both with 82 points, plan to study Civil and Structural Engineering and Data Analysis, respectively.
Starehe Boys Centre and Alliance Girls High School
Starehe Boys Centre recorded a mean score of 10.1116, with all but one candidate qualifying for university. The breakdown included 47 As, 72 A-, 77 B+, 43 B, 20 B-, 15 C+, and one C-.
Alliance Girls High School saw a mean score increase of 0.209, achieving 10.038. Out of 493 candidates, 475 qualified for university. The school registered 89 As, 147 A-, 107 B+, 60 B, 49 B-, 23 C+, 13 C, four C-, and one D.
Mang’u High School and Light Academy
Mang’u High posted a mean score of 10.011, recording 107 As, 164 A-, 114 B+, 99 B, 23 C+, 21 C, five C-, one D+, and one D.
At Light Academy, Nairobi, jubilation filled the air as the school produced over 15 As, with Christian Getugi and Allan Ryan leading with 84 points each. Getugi attributed his success to effective time management and determination.
Sunshine Secondary School
Sunshine Secondary School in Lang’ata recorded 11 straight As. In the Lower Eastern region, slow internet speeds hindered access to results. Matinyani Secondary School in Kitui County maintained its streak, ranking 25th nationally with a B+ mean grade.
Kitui and Mbooni Schools Shine
Kitui School’s principal, Bernard Mutua, highlighted their improvement to a mean grade of 9.52 from last year’s 8.89. Twelve students scored A (plain), and 51 attained A-. Mbooni Girls High School in Makueni County registered three A (plain).
Machakos School’s Revival
Machakos School regained its top form, with all 437 candidates qualifying for university. Principal Benson Manoo reported eight A (plain) grades and 46 A-. The best performer, Benson Musyoka, achieved 83 points and plans to study medicine.
Makueni and Mwaani Schools
At Makueni Boys High School, 396 out of 419 students qualified for university, with a mean score of 8.816. Principal Francis Mutua expressed satisfaction with the results.
Mwaani Girls High School recorded significant progress, improving from a mean score of 6.4 to 8.0. Principal Elizabeth Mutinda expressed optimism for future performance, with 306 candidates sitting the exam and the highest scorer achieving a B+ grade.
