Kenyenya TTC Mourns Death of Chief Principal Duncan Egessa

Kenyenya Teachers Training College (TTC) Chief Principal, Duncan Egessa, has tragically passed away.

According to a staff member, Egessa was involved in a fatal road accident while traveling to his home in Kakamega from his work station. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday morning.

Following the tragic news, numerous students and parents flocked to the college, seeking confirmation of the principal’s death.

One student recalled that Egessa appeared joyful and energetic when he addressed second-year teacher trainees the day before the accident, noting his jovial demeanor and how lively he had seemed.

Egessa’s career was marked by significant achievements. He began as the Director of Studies (DoS) at Migori TTC, later being transferred to Ugenya Teachers Training College, where he was promoted to Chief Principal.

Three years ago, he was posted to Kenyenya Teachers’ Training College, where he continued to serve until his untimely death.

Tributes and Legacy

Many colleagues and students admired Egessa for his dedication to education. Samuel Orangi, a teacher who had known him for ten years, described him as an educator deeply passionate about learning and supportive of his staff and students.

Another educator, Nixon Matwetwe, a Kisii County Drama and Music trainer, highlighted Egessa’s humility and his eagerness to mentor others.

Under Egessa’s leadership, Kenyenya TTC thrived, particularly in extracurricular activities. His efforts culminated in the college’s success at events like the National Music Festival held in Eldoret City, solidifying his legacy as an outstanding leader in both academics and extracurricular endeavors.
