KICD Calls for Applications for Senior School Subject Panel Membership; Qualifications and Submission Guidelines.
The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) has extended an invitation to teachers and other educators to apply for subject panel membership in senior secondary school.
Eligibility Requirements for Applicants
KICD has outlined specific qualifications that applicants must meet to be considered for the membership. Senior school, which consists of Grade 10, 11, and 12, is set to commence in January 2026.
Students currently in Grade 9 will transition to senior school in January next year after completing the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) in November.
Interested candidates have until Friday, 14th February 2025, to manually submit their applications along with the necessary documents.
Application Details for Subject Panel Membership
The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) is tasked with developing, reviewing, and approving curricula, programs, and curriculum support materials for all educational levels except universities.
Additionally, the institute evaluates, vets, and approves both local and foreign curricula and curriculum support materials for use in Kenya.
To fulfill this mandate, KICD engages stakeholders through the panel system. Consequently, the institute is inviting teachers, teacher educators from colleges and universities, and industry professionals with the required qualifications and experience to apply for membership in subject panels for Senior School.
Qualifications Required for Applicants
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
a) Be a certified teacher of any of the subjects offered at Senior School or a teacher training institution.
b) Be registered with the Teachers Service Commission or a relevant professional body in the case of industry professionals.
c) Possess a minimum of five years of experience as a teacher, tutor, instructor, lecturer at a secondary school, college, university, or industry level.
d) Indicate any prior experience as a panelist.
e) Experience as an examiner with the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) or other internationally recognized examination bodies will be considered an added advantage.
Applicants are required to submit recommendation letters from the Heads of their Institutions along with copies of their certificates and testimonials.

Submission Guidelines
All applications, together with the required documents and testimonials, should be sent to the undersigned and must reach KICD by Friday, 14th February 2025.
