KMTC Graduates to Collect Transcripts at Their Campuses After Decentralisation.
Graduates of the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) will now conveniently obtain their transcripts from any of the institution’s 88 campuses following newly implemented reforms aimed at improving service delivery.
This change eliminates the need for graduates to travel to Nairobi, as transcripts will no longer be issued exclusively at the KMTC headquarters.
The decentralisation initiative officially began with the distribution of 10,000 Final Qualifying Examination (FQE) transcripts to campuses across the country on Friday, March 4. These transcripts belong to students who completed their exams in January.
Graduates from the 2024 cohort and beyond are now expected to collect their documents directly from their respective campuses, where all necessary materials have already been dispatched.
The shift in transcript distribution was driven by the increasing demand for KMTC graduates in the labour market. The college recognised the need to support timely job placement by ensuring graduates receive their transcripts promptly, enabling them to compete effectively for employment opportunities immediately after completing their FQEs.
“We have seen employers express interest in hiring our students immediately after they complete their FQEs,” said KMTC CEO Dr. Kelly Oluoch.
“We would not want any of our graduates to miss out on an opportunity,” he added.
Employers had shown a growing interest in hiring KMTC students as soon as they finish their exams, prompting the institution to prioritise efficiency in the transcript issuance process.
Limited Access for Previous Graduates
However, the decentralised system will apply only to those who completed their FQEs in 2024 and later. Graduates from 2023 and earlier will still be required to collect their transcripts from the KMTC Examinations Office in Nairobi.
This measure ensures that only recent cohorts benefit from the streamlined access at campus level, while maintaining the existing system for earlier groups.

“Some employers require a detailed breakdown of hours spent on theory and clinical training. All that information is captured in the transcript,” he noted.
In addition to easing the logistical and financial burden on graduates, the move also caters to those pursuing opportunities abroad. The institution noted a substantial increase in demand for its graduates in the international job market, with 3,249 employment verification requests recorded in 2024—representing a 50 percent surge compared to the previous year.
The decentralised approach is therefore expected to facilitate quicker access to documents required for overseas employment.
