KNEC Announces Job Openings for Grade 7 Examination Officers: How to Apply.
The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), a state corporation mandated to oversee school and post-school examinations in Kenya, has announced vacancies for the position of Examinations Officer in the Applied Sciences, Business, and Technical Education categories.
A total of six positions are available in KNEC Grade 7, marking the entry and training level for graduates.
Responsibilities for Successful Candidates
Candidates hired for these roles will work under the supervision of senior officers and will be involved in critical activities such as:
- Participating in curriculum development and aligning syllabuses to examinations and assessments.
- Creating Tables of Specifications for test papers and assessment tools.
- Training setters and moderators and overseeing the setting and moderation of test items and papers.
- Proofreading and approving test materials and participating in pre-testing, awards, and grading.
- Preparing feedback reports and implementing recommendations from Chief Examiners and Awards Panels.
- Ensuring security and confidentiality of all examination and assessment materials and adhering to Quality Management Systems.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a relevant field with additional teaching qualifications from a recognized institution, and possess at least four years of cumulative teaching experience in the specified areas.
- Demonstrate proficiency in computer applications and competence in work performance.
- Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
Skills and Competencies
Key competencies required include integrity, time management, communication and reporting skills, attention to detail, teamwork, and strong interpersonal skills.
Employment Terms
The positions are offered on a one-year contract basis, with a competitive remuneration package provided. Successful candidates will be required to provide clearance under Chapter Six of the Constitution.
