KNEC Exam Registration Closes Friday – No Extensions.

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has reiterated that the deadline for registering for the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) is tomorrow.

The registration period, which began on February 17, will officially close on March 28, with no possibility of an extension. KNEC emphasized that once the registration portal shuts down, it will not reopen for either exam.

David Njengere, KNEC’s CEO, confirmed that the KJSEA registration portal will be inaccessible after March 28, 2025, and no provisions will be made for late registrations. Parents and candidates preparing for KCSE were similarly advised that late registration would not be allowed.

KJSEA, introduced under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), is a national assessment for Grade 9 students, determining their transition from junior to senior school.

“Finally, please note that the KJSEA Registration portal shall be closed on March 28, 2025, and there will be no provision for late registration of candidates once the portal is closed,” warned David Njengere, KNEC CEO.

Once registration closes, KNEC will verify candidate details, including names, subjects, and school information. Schools must review and correct any discrepancies before the final list is approved. This process is crucial in avoiding errors that could affect a candidate’s examination eligibility. Inaccurate details may cause complications during the exams and result processing.

Following verification, KNEC will allocate index numbers to candidates. The council will also finalize exam logistics, such as distributing materials, designating centres, and assigning supervisors and invigilators.

Written papers will start on November 3 with English and Chemistry and continue across various subjects until the final exam, Physics Paper 3 (practical), on November 21.
