KNEC Issues Warning Against Exam Fraudsters After Releasing KPSEA Results.
The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has warned the public to remain vigilant against scammers falsely claiming they can alter the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results.
On Wednesday, January 8, KNEC identified a Telegram account allegedly run by con artists who misled the public into believing they could access and manipulate examination results. These fraudsters claimed they had permission from the council to make changes to students’ KPSEA and KCSE scores.
Under the pretense of modifying results, the scammers demanded substantial bribes from unsuspecting victims.
They assured their targets that they could achieve instant grade changes if payments were made promptly, adding that delayed cooperation would result in students retaining their original scores.

KNEC refuted these claims, stating that such Telegram groups were fraudulent and solely intended to deceive and extort money from innocent Kenyans.
The council emphasized that no individual or entity outside its authorized framework could access or alter examination results.
The warning came shortly after the official release of the KPSEA results, with the council urging the public to remain cautious and avoid engaging with these scammers.
On Tuesday, January 7, KNEC announced that schools presenting candidates for the 2024 KPSEA could now access learner-specific reports through the Competency-Based Assessment (CBA) portal.

The council congratulated the 2024 candidates and advised schools to log in to the portal at http://cba.knec.ac.ke to download the results.
Parents and students experiencing difficulties in accessing the results were encouraged to contact the schools where the students had registered for the exams.
The release of the KPSEA results comes amid rising concerns from the public about delays in releasing the KCSE exam results. KNEC, however, has yet to issue an update on when the secondary school examination results will be available.
