KNEC Withholds Lugulu Girls’ 2024 KCSE Results.

Panic and uncertainty struck parents and students of Lugulu Girls’ School in Bungoma after the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) withheld the school’s 2024 KCSE results. The development caused shockwaves among the school’s community, known for its stellar academic achievements.

The school principal, Dinah Cheruiyot, confirmed the unexpected news, leaving parents and students eagerly awaiting clarity on their next steps.

Why Top KCSE Students Are Choosing TVET Courses Over University Programs

The institution, celebrated for its strong performance, had achieved an impressive mean grade of 9.328 in the 2023 KCSE, with one A plain, 63 A-, and numerous other quality grades.

Western Region Director of Education, Jared Obiero, disclosed that the results were under review, adding that the matter was yet to be resolved or rejected officially.

In response to the situation, Cheruiyot and the teaching staff urged the 2024 KCSE candidates and their parents to exercise patience while the school pursued an appeal with KNEC.

A letter to parents, signed by the principal, assured them that the matter was being addressed and further updates would follow.

Obiero echoed the need for calm, explaining that such reviews were standard in cases of missing information or errors. He expressed confidence that the results would soon be released, stressing that there was no need for alarm.

Growing Concerns

Despite these assurances, concerns have been heightened by reports of widespread exam malpractice during the 2024 KCSE examinations.

KNEC announced that results for 840 candidates found guilty of cheating had already been canceled. Furthermore, several schools were under investigation for allegedly facilitating irregularities.

During the official release of the results on January 9, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos revealed that KNEC had withheld the results of 2,389 candidates suspected of malpractice. He stated that the investigation would conclude within 30 days.

The Lugulu Girls’ community remains in suspense as they await further developments, hoping for a resolution that will uphold the school’s legacy of academic excellence.
