KNUT Demands Completion and Upgrade of Koitalel Samoei University.
The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Nandi branch has urged the government to expedite the completion and upgrade of Koitalel Samoei University College in Nandi County.
The union expressed frustration over the institution’s stalled progress despite the availability of over 400 acres of land and annual allocations of substantial funds.
Boniface Tenai, the Nandi East/Tinderet branch Executive Secretary, emphasized the importance of prioritizing the project.
He noted emerging reports of other universities planning to establish campuses in the county, questioning the rationale behind such initiatives when Koitalel Samoei University remains incomplete.
Tenai highlighted that Koitalel Samoei University College is locally owned and would significantly benefit students in the county by offering accessible higher education.

However, he condemned the unexplained removal of construction equipment from the site shortly after the foundation was dug.
He criticized the decision as both shameful and unacceptable, adding that the open ditches left behind pose a danger to residents.
Stakeholders Demand Accountability
The union expressed disappointment in the lack of progress, accusing elected leaders of failing to advocate for the university’s completion.
Tenai vowed that KNUT, as a key stakeholder, would persist in demanding the project’s completion, emphasizing the urgency of addressing the issue.
