KSSSA Term One games Winners and Losers
As the games concluded, Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi presented awards to the winners.
The Western region emerged as the overall champion in the recently concluded Kenya Secondary School Sports Association (KSSSA) Brookside Term One event, with Rift Valley and Nyanza finishing second and third, respectively.
Dr. Aggrey High School from the Coast Region won the boys’ basketball championship at various venues in Machakos. In a closely contested encounter at Machakos School, the agile lads defeated Nyanza’s Agoro Sare 56-54.
Butere Girls, the defending basketball champions, retained their title after defeating Nairobi’s Buruburu Girls 49-43.
Moi Girls Kamusinga easily defeated regional opponents Kwanthanze 24-14 in handball, while Western’s St Luke Kimilili defeated defending champions Hospital Hill 21-15 in matches played on wet and muddy fields after heavy rainfall. Dr. Aggrey of Coast won the basketball final.
In the Rugby 15s, Eastern All Saints defeated defending champions Butula 12–10. Tigoi Girls defeated Nyamira of Nyanza 2-1, while Musingu defeated St. Anthony Boys 3-2.
The games exhibited a wide range of abilities from hundreds of participants in six categories. Basketball, hockey, rugby 15s, athletics, swimming, and handball were all part of a six-day national sports festival that brought together teams from Kenya’s eight regions.
KSSSA Chairman Kipchumba Maiyo, who is also the Chief Principal of Kapsabet Boys’ High School, described the championships as an opportunity to display talent, unite the country, and encourage camaraderie among all participants.
Maiyo stated that the winners will represent the country in Jinja, Uganda, later this year, and thanked the host, Machakos County, for excellent planning and hospitality.

Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi, who officially opened and ended the competitions, complimented the participants for their good sportsmanship and discipline.
The celebrations were as enjoyable as the contests themselves.
“After competing at the regional and national levels, we are all winners. Congratulations!” exclaimed Mwangangi, adding that education and sports are a necessity for any developing country. He thanked Brookside for their support and invited additional corporates to join the event.
