KUCCPS Alerts Applicants on Online Scams, Sets Diploma Teaching Entry Grade at C+.

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has issued a warning to applicants about fraudulent individuals posing as placement agents.

Reports indicate that scammers have been deceiving applicants by falsely claiming they can process applications for Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) in exchange for a fee.

KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Agnes Wahome stated on Friday, March 7, that all applications should be made exclusively through the official placement service portal. She emphasized the importance of vigilance to avoid falling victim to online fraud.

Applicants experiencing difficulties in applying for teaching courses at TTCs were encouraged to visit the KUCCPS offices at ACK Garden House, 1st Ngong Avenue, Community Area, Nairobi. Additionally, support could be sought from any of the 58 Huduma Centres nationwide or by visiting nearby TTCs.

Minimum Academic Requirements

Regarding academic qualifications, applicants aspiring to enroll in primary TTCs must have a minimum mean grade of C (plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or an equivalent qualification.

Likewise, those seeking admission to the Diploma in Secondary Education program are required to attain a minimum of C+ in KCSE or an equivalent qualification.

Currently, three institutions offer the Diploma in Secondary Teacher Education, accommodating up to 2,735 students, while the other 33 TTCs provide training in the Diploma in Primary Teacher Education.

Candidates with non-KCSE qualifications were advised to obtain an equivalency certificate from the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) to facilitate their applications.

Application Process and Deadline

According to KUCCPS, the ongoing application process remains open to both Kenyan and non-Kenyan applicants.

The placement service urged all interested and qualified candidates, including those from the 2024 KCSE cohort and previous years, to submit their applications before the deadline on March 20.
