KUCCPS New Payment Codes Following Govt eCitizen Directive

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has introduced new payment codes, as announced on Tuesday.

This move comes in response to the government’s directive to integrate all government services with the eCitizen platform.

The public notice from KUCCPS explained that the new codes were implemented to enhance transaction efficiency on eCitizen.

It advised stakeholders to use specific payment reference codes for different services provided via the platform.

Under the new system, local students paying for research data provision should use the code PDRL.

Local NGOs and businesses will need to use the code PNGO for similar payments. For bidders purchasing tender documents, the required code is PTDB, while those buying career books must use PCCB.

Additionally, universities registering for membership should use the code RGMU, and colleges should use RMCL for the same service.

For services not listed, such as applications for replacement or inter-institutional transfers, users should follow the eCitizen payment instructions available on the KUCCPS portal.

Payment Process Through eCitizen

KUCCPS outlined a seven-step process for making payments through eCitizen with the new codes:

  1. Access the mobile money menu.
  2. Choose the option to pay with mobile money.
  3. Select pay bill.
  4. Enter the consolidated paybill number, 222222.
  5. For the account number, input the relevant payment reference code followed by a hyphen and the client’s name in capital letters.
  6. Enter the required amount.
  7. Forward the confirmation message to KUCCPS as proof of payment.
