KUCCPS Opens KMTC and TVET Applications for KCSE 2024 Students.
The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has announced a 21-day application window for students who sat for the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) to enroll in Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) and Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.
The application portal, which opened on Friday, January 24, 2025, will close on February 14, 2025.
Phased Application Process Introduced
KUCCPS CEO Agness Wahome disclosed that this marks the first time the placement service has implemented a phased application system.
This approach prioritizes institutions with earlier intakes, such as KMTC and TVET colleges, allowing students enrolling for the March intake to apply promptly.
Wahome explained that universities and Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) typically admit students later in the year, necessitating a staggered application process to facilitate seamless transitions for students.
Opportunities for Past Candidates
KUCCPS also extended the opportunity to previous KCSE candidates from 2000 to 2024 to apply for KMTC and TVET slots.
Students have been encouraged to consider institutions within their localities to minimize living costs by commuting from home. Meanwhile, candidates seeking degree programs and TTC slots have been asked to remain patient, as application dates for these institutions will be announced later.
Additionally, students retaking their KCSE exams in July will have the chance to apply for KMTC and TVET programs using their improved grades for the September intake.
Application Guidelines and Support
To facilitate the process, students have been directed to access detailed application guidelines on the KUCCPS portal at students.kuccps.net and the KUCCPS website. The platform provides information about available programs, their requirements, and the institutions offering them.
Wahome emphasized that all applications must be made through the official KUCCPS portal. She warned students against falling victim to fraudsters who claim to offer assistance with applications.
KUCCPS has announced a nationwide initiative to assist applicants, deploying officers to designated colleges across all 47 counties. Additionally, students can seek guidance at Huduma Centres.
The placement service is working to streamline the process for the 962,512 candidates who sat for the 2024 KCSE. Out of these, 246,391 candidates attained C+ and above, qualifying for direct university admission, while 605,774 are expected to apply for TVET programs this year.

Speaking about the initiative, Wahome expressed optimism about the new phased application system. She noted that it ensures timely admission for KMTC and TVET students, adding that “students have sufficient support to navigate the process and transition smoothly into their chosen institutions.”
Wahome also urged students to take advantage of the support measures, stating, “Our officers and resources are available to assist every applicant.”
