KUCCPS Payment Guidelines for Degree & TVET Course Application.
The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has provided guidelines for applicants seeking to enroll in degree and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) courses.
This update was issued on Wednesday, April 2, five days after the placement service officially opened its application portal for candidates from the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) cohort. Previously, KUCCPS had confirmed that the application window would remain accessible for three weeks, closing on April 21, 2025.
Despite the announcement, some applicants have encountered difficulties in making payments, with some reporting that transactions were not reflecting on the application portal. To address these concerns, KUCCPS released a detailed step-by-step payment guide to streamline the application process.
Step-by-Step Payment Procedure
KUCCPS has outlined that once candidates complete their course selection, they must proceed by clicking the submit button, which will prompt them to initiate payment.
The placement service has specified that a non-refundable fee of Ksh1,500 is required, payable via the eCitizen platform. The portal will present various payment methods, including mobile money and bank transactions, from which the applicant can select their preferred option.
After completing the payment, candidates must click the “I have paid” button. Subsequently, an SMS containing the eCitizen payment reference code will be sent to the applicant. KUCCPS has instructed applicants to enter this reference code into the designated slot before clicking Submit to finalize the transaction.

Important Considerations
Applicants have been cautioned against using the mobile money transaction code during the application process, as it will not be accepted by the system. Furthermore, KUCCPS has urged candidates not to delete the payment confirmation message, as the reference code will be necessary for any future modifications to their application.
This latest directive follows another recent update by KUCCPS, which, on Tuesday, April 1, disclosed that support centers had been established in all 47 counties. These centers aim to assist students struggling with the application process and offer career guidance to help them choose suitable courses.
