2. KNEC Training for Grade 9 KJSEA Examiners

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has begun training teachers who will serve as examiners for the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) for Grade 9 learners. The in-person training session runs from Monday 14th April to Thursday 17th April 2025.

Interested teachers had applied for the program in March after paying a mandatory KSh 10,500 registration fee through an online platform. Prior to the physical session, successful applicants were required to complete an online orientation course.

KNEC has designated specific institutions to host this training based on subject specialization. The list of venues includes:

  • Kiswahili – Machakos Girls
  • English – Maryhill Girls
  • Business Studies (BST) – Murang’a TTC
  • Agriculture – Kilimambogo TTC
  • Mathematics – St. Francis Girls, Mang’u
  • Geography and History – Sunshine Secondary School
  • Christian Religious Education (CRE) – Machakos TTC
  • Biology, Chemistry, and Physics – St. George’s Secondary School

3. KNEC Item Writing Training

In addition to the examiner training, KNEC is conducting another program targeting Item Writers. This training aims to enhance the creation of quality test items to support the Competency-Based Assessment framework used in both Basic Education and teacher training programs.

Teachers interested in participating were instructed to submit their applications online by 11th April 2025 through the official KNEC portal at http://examinersapp.knec.ac.ke. The participants for this training were selected through an advertised call inviting qualified teachers.
