Ministry of Education Nullifies University Admission Letters for KCSE 2023 Cohort

On Friday, the Ministry of Education annulled all the calling letters issued by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) to the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) cohort.

Education Principal Secretary Beatrice Muganda stated in her letter dated July 19 that the previously issued admission letters were no longer valid. This directive specifically targeted students planning to pursue degree courses.

The Ministry of Education emphasized that students and their guardians should disregard the previously communicated full cost of each degree program.

The ministry assured the public that the full cost mentioned in the initial admission letters is nullified and no longer applicable. Despite this change, the placement of students in their respective academic programs remains unchanged.

Assurance of Secured Placements

The Ministry reassured students that their placements in various academic programs are secure. Universities were instructed to communicate the new fees to be paid by each student by August 5.

The announcement follows a directive from the National Assembly Education Committee, which had instructed the Ministry of Education to withdraw all university admission letters due to alleged fee anomalies.

The committee urged the Ministry to order universities to recall the admission letters to rectify the fee amounts, ensuring they were allocated based on set classifications.
