MKU Ranked Among Kenya’s Top 3, Claims 32nd Spot in Sub-Saharan Africa
Mount Kenya University (MKU) has secured the third position among 15 Kenyan universities in the Times Higher Education Sub-Saharan Africa University Ranking.
Regionally, the institution claimed the 32nd spot out of 129 Sub-Saharan universities that met the ranking criteria.
The rankings, conducted by a globally recognized organization, evaluated 129 universities from 22 countries in the region. These rankings are renowned for acknowledging top-performing institutions across various disciplines.

The ranking methodology emphasized universities’ contributions to addressing significant challenges within the region. This recognition highlights MKU’s efforts in fostering impactful initiatives.
Graduation Ceremony to Celebrate Achievements
The announcement precedes MKU’s 26th graduation ceremony, scheduled for December 6. Over 7,000 graduates are expected to attend the event, which will be presided over by the university’s Chancellor, Prof. John Struthers.
The ceremony will also feature Amb. Eunice Kigenyi, Deputy High Commissioner of the Uganda High Commission in Nairobi, as the guest speaker.

MKU reaffirmed its dedication to transformative research in a statement, emphasizing its focus on impactful projects and partnerships. The university highlighted its collaborations with strategic partners such as JICA, UNESCO-KNATCOM, and UN Volunteers to advance its research agenda.
