Nakuru High School Hosts Primary and Secondary Special Schools Sports National Event
Nakuru High School is hosting this year’s Primary and Secondary Special Schools Sports National Event. The event will take place from April 7th to 11th.
On Sunday morning, a procession through Nakuru town signaled the start of this historic event, culminating in the acknowledgment and awards for the victors.
Mr. Nelson Sifuna, Director of Field Coordination and Co-curricular Activities, invited sports enthusiasts and the general public to come out in large numbers to watch special needs students demonstrate their athletic ability.
He stated that the sporting events will include numerous disciplines such as rugby under 15, athletics, basketball, hockey, handball, cross country, and swimming. Learners with a variety of impairments, including physical and mental impairments, vision and hearing impairments, and autism, will participate.

Mr. Nelson Sifuna said that special sports have grown in popularity over time, gaining public attention. He made the announcement: “This year’s first-term National Special School’s Sports competition will be held in Nakuru High School, commencing on Saturday, April 6, 2024, with a clinic for referees to provide a refresher course on the rules and regulations governing sports in Kenya.”
The special school’s sports will run concurrently with regular sporting events held throughout the country.
Nyeri County will host regular primary school sports, Machakos County will host secondary sports, and Embu will host drama and film festivals during the same period.
