NYS Announces Nationwide Recruitment Exercise for Volunteers: Requirements.
The National Youth Service (NYS) has announced a nationwide recruitment drive for volunteers to serve the country. The advertisement, which appeared in the MyGov paper, indicates that the recruitment will take place from Monday, February 10, to Saturday, February 15.
To qualify for enlistment, all applicants must be Kenyan citizens and residents of the sub-counties where they are applying. Additionally, they must have obtained a minimum KCSE mean grade of D plain or higher.
Applicants are also required to present their original National ID, a Certificate of Good Conduct, and undergo a medical examination both during and after the recruitment process. Furthermore, candidates should be ready to participate in a rigorous training program.
Training and Reporting Details
Successful candidates will attend the NYS paramilitary training at the Academy in Gilgil and Naivasha. The reporting dates and times for this training will be specified in the calling letters issued to the selected applicants.

Preference will be given to orphans and individuals with disabilities, provided they meet the recruitment criteria and are capable of completing the physical training.
The NYS has emphasized its zero-tolerance policy towards corruption. The notice made it clear that any form of canvassing, as well as offering bribes or other inducements for recruitment, will lead to automatic disqualification or possible prosecution.
