Over 14,500 Classrooms Completed for Junior Secondary Learners – CS Ogamba.

Significant progress has been made in building Junior Secondary School classrooms. According to the Ministry of Education, 14,500 classrooms have been constructed, with the remaining 1,500 set to be completed by the end of January.

Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Julius Ogamba stated that ensuring proper facilities is crucial for the seamless transition and learning experience of JSS students.

“We have ensured that in each JSS there are a number of teachers capable of ensuring learning is going on. We have also provided the books. For example, in this school all the books that are required for each subject have arrived. Each student has a book in each subject in a ratio of one to one,” said the CS.

“This year marks a significant step in education infrastructure,” said Ogamba, emphasizing the government’s commitment to prioritizing quality education and healthcare access.

This comes as the Ministry plans to build 7,800 more classrooms to meet the growing demand for infrastructure in schools.

As part of his tour, CS Ogamba inaugurated 11 newly built Junior Secondary School classrooms under the Kenya Primary Education Equity in Learning Program (KPEEL) in Changamwe Sub-County. These classrooms are located at Umoja St. Charles Lwanga and Migadini schools.

Ogamba noted the smooth transition of learners from Grade Six to Grade Seven in most schools.

For instance, at Umoja JSS, 176 learners sat for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment, with only six failing to report for Grade Seven. The area chief was instructed to trace these students to achieve a 100% transition rate.
