Parents, KUPPET Demands Immediate Release of Second Term School Capitation
Chairperson Silas Obuhatsa of the National Parents Association (NPA) wants the government to release funds promptly to enable schools to begin immediate renovations due to damages caused by heavy rains.
Obuhatsa noted that these funds would also contribute to supporting school operations, thereby alleviating pressure on parents.
Some parents expressed concern about having to pay again for transportation due to delayed communication from Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu regarding the postponement.
Parents stated that the exorbitant cost of living and the devastation caused by torrential rains had left them financially impoverished, making it difficult to pay fees on time.
Obuhatsa stated that some households lost property due to flooding, while others were displaced and must be considered.

He stated that, given the challenging times that some families have endured, which have resulted in property loss, it would be equitable to offer them leniency in fee payments.
Obuhatsa emphasized the necessity for the government to release funds promptly to enable schools to commence immediate renovations due to damages caused by heavy rains.
He further noted that these funds would also contribute to supporting school operations, thereby alleviating pressure on parents.
