In the boys under 12 category, Brookhouse School claimed the top spot, with Kenton College taking second place after struggling to match the unyielding champions’ pace.

The girls under 14 race saw BND School dominate the competition to secure victory. On the other hand, teamwork played a pivotal role for Safari Simbar Academy as they triumphed in the boys under 14 category.

The Hog Charge, Kenya’s premier national mountain bike contest, is organized annually to support conservation efforts for Mount Kenya. Sponsored by milk processor Brookside Dairy, this year’s event raised over 7 million Kenyan shillings for conservation initiatives.

Brookside Dairy representatives highlighted the event’s significance in fostering national integration and cohesion, with participants from across the country converging in Ruiru. They noted that the 26th edition of the event witnessed record participation, with 199 teams of four registering for the competition.

One participant shared her experience of the race, expressing pride in completing the circuit with her teammates. She emphasized the fun and teamwork involved, recommending the event to others.

The participant added that her team—comprising Haley, Leah, and Hannah—collaborated effectively to overcome the challenges at each checkpoint.

Another organizer stressed the importance of the race as a fun way to educate children about conservation. The event took place at Northlands Ranch, one of the largest venues in the competition’s history.
