President Ruto Addresses JSS Teachers and Intern Doctors Employment
President William Ruto has assured young doctors and Junior Secondary School (JSS) teachers that their employment concerns are being prioritized.
In a recent statement, he acknowledged the challenges faced by graduating medical professionals and teachers awaiting permanent positions.
Ruto mentioned that many JSS teachers, who had been on strike a few weeks ago, are anticipating their transition to permanent and pensionable contracts.
He revealed that an allocation of 18 billion Shillings was initially included in this year’s finance bill to facilitate this transition.
“I am telling the JSS teachers I had factored in 18 billion Shillings in this year’s finance bill to be able to transfer them to permanent and pensionable.”
“I want to tell them give me a bit of time let me figure this out how we are going to do it.”
Despite the current absence of the finance bill, Ruto requested patience as he seeks alternative solutions to fulfill his commitment.
Intern Doctors
Addressing the plight of intern doctors and young clinical officers, Ruto disclosed that 3 billion Shillings had been earmarked to support their employment, particularly under the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) program.
He had also planned to allocate 10 billion Shillings to the UHC program within the finance bill.
However, with the finance bill no longer in effect, Ruto assured that he is working on finding ways to honor these commitments despite financial constraints.
President Ruto emphasized his dedication to ensuring that the roles of teachers and medical professionals are not neglected.
