President Ruto Increases NYS Recruitment Intake to 20,000
President William Ruto has instructed the National Youth Service (NYS) to expand its next intake of recruits to 20,000. On Monday, during the NYS pass-out parade in Gilgil, he expressed his satisfaction with this year’s recruitment of nearly 15,000 young people.
The President emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring that more youth benefit from the training and vocational opportunities provided by the NYS.
President Ruto indicated that the government is making the necessary arrangements to increase the number of recruits. He reiterated that the plan is to recruit 20,000 individuals in the next intake, highlighting the government’s dedication to youth development and skill acquisition through the NYS.

Additional Cadet and Private Officer Recruitment
To further support the NYS, President Ruto announced his approval for the recruitment of 200 additional cadet officers and 500 private officers. These officers will assist in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the service’s operations.

The President noted the critical role that NYS recruits will play in the Kenya Kwanza administration’s initiative to plant 15 billion trees. He emphasized that the NYS will be responsible for overseeing the climate action program across the nation, contributing significantly to environmental conservation efforts.
