PS Kipsang’ Issues Stern Warning to Men on Teenage Pregnancies.

Basic Education Principal Secretary (PS) Belio Kipsang’ has cautioned adult men against preying on and impregnating teenage girls, emphasizing the need to shield the vulnerable in society. He warned that those engaging in such actions would face unspecified severe consequences.

While supervising the opening and distribution of examination papers at the Meru County Commissioner’s headquarters, PS Kipsang’ expressed concern over the rising number of young girls forced to take their exams from hospitals due to pregnancies.

He noted that the situation has worsened this year compared to previous years.

Statistics on Teenage Pregnancies
The PS highlighted that in most cases, adult men, not schoolboys, are responsible for teenage pregnancies. He estimated that out of 100 pregnant schoolgirls, only about five were impregnated by their schoolmates, while the majority fell victim to adults.

“We are supposed to protect these children. In most cases, the people responsible are not our school boys because for every 100 girls, maybe five were impregnated by schoolmates while the majority of the others were impregnated by adult men,” he said.

Call for Responsibility and Protection
Kipsang’ urged men to protect young girls and prioritize their futures, describing children as valuable investments for the society’s future. He appealed for collective efforts to allow children to thrive and fulfill their potential.

He further stressed that interfering with a child’s education harms their potential and future, calling on everyone to support children in realizing their purpose. He stated that actions that safeguard children’s welfare align with divine intentions and contribute to societal progress.
