PS Kipsang highlighted key milestones achieved during the academic year, including the construction of junior secondary classrooms. He commended head teachers for optimizing the allocated resources to ensure these facilities were completed on time.

Efforts to enhance ICT infrastructure and equip teacher training colleges with necessary facilities were also noted. These steps, he said, are critical for preparing educators to meet the demands of the competency-based curriculum (CBC).

The PS acknowledged the ministry’s progress in phasing out the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and transitioning to the Kenya Junior School Assessment. He affirmed the government’s commitment to delivering a globally competitive education system, supported by comprehensive policies and regulations.

Education Cycles Completion

All levels of the CBC—PP1 to PP2, Grades 1-6, and Junior School (Grades 7-9)—have now achieved full cycles. The next step, he stated, is ensuring a seamless transition to senior school for the first cohort of CBC learners in 2025.

PS Kipsang urged teachers, parents, and guardians to be role models for children, stating that the youth reflect the values of their society. He noted that children learn and emulate behaviors from adults, emphasizing that instilling good morals and discipline is crucial for securing a brighter future.

“Children learn what they live, and they live what they learn,” PS Kipsang stated, urging all adults to demonstrate positive behavior.

He reminded the audience that shaping the moral compass of learners requires collective effort from all members of society.
