Ruto: Government to Build 5,000 Classrooms in Nairobi.
President William Ruto has revealed his administration’s plans to construct 5,000 additional classrooms in Nairobi to ensure children remain in school.
Addressing the congregation at AIC Church Milimani in Nairobi on Sunday, he pointed out the worrying increase in the number of children staying out of school, emphasizing the urgent need to address this issue.
Ruto mentioned that he will soon meet with Nairobi’s County leadership to begin implementing this ambitious project.
He stressed the seriousness of the situation, highlighting that around 10,000 children in Nairobi are not attending school. Ruto also shared his commitment to working with Members of Parliament to advance the initiative.
The President explained that the government has already allocated resources for the construction of the classrooms. He emphasized that the focus will be on ensuring that children living in informal settlements have access to education.
This plan aims to address the growing number of children who are unable to attend school due to a lack of adequate facilities.
Youth Employment through Nairobi River Project
Ruto also underscored his administration’s dedication to creating opportunities for young Kenyans. He pointed to the recent launch of the Nairobi River Regeneration Project, which has already provided jobs for 10,000 youths.
He affirmed that the initiative, rolled out on October 1, would transform the Nairobi River within two years, making it cleaner and healthier.
The President emphasized the importance of cleaning up Nairobi’s river, especially considering that the city is home to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
He viewed the current state of the river as a negative reflection on the country and vowed to collaborate with stakeholders to see the plan through.
Expressing optimism about his government’s policies, Ruto reiterated that the changes his administration is making will bring lasting progress.
