Career Opportunity: Teacher of Kiswahili at Aga Khan High School, Nairobi
The Aga Khan Education Service, Kenya (AKESK) is a non-profit service company, registered under the Companies Act. It operates 11 schools in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, and Eldoret, providing nursery to senior secondary education in the National curriculum. As part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), AKESK works to enhance living conditions and opportunities for people of all faiths and origins in specific regions of the developing world.
Position: Teacher of Kiswahili
Location: Aga Khan High School, Nairobi
Key Responsibilities:
- Implementation and delivery of the curriculum.
- Preparation of all teaching documents as required. May serve as a class/house teacher.
- Participation in co-curricular activities.
Qualification and Experience:
- Bachelor of Education degree.
- Must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
- At least 3 years of experience.
- Experience in preparing a candidate class is preferred.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title:
Location: Machakos
Level: Junior Secondary
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach a class of students, ensuring diverse academic and social needs are met through preparation, recording, assessment, and reporting.
- Establish an engaging learning environment in the classroom.
- Maintain good order and discipline among students in accordance with the school’s behavior policy.
- Participate in meetings related to school management, curriculum, administration, and organization.
- Attend staff meetings, seminars, and co-curricular events associated with the school curriculum.
- Carry out supervisory duties as required.
- Perform any other duties as directed by the Principal, Deputy Principal, or any other senior management staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, (English & Literature) or its equivalent.
- TSC registration a must.
- Proven experience teaching English and Literature at the junior secondary level.
- Strong understanding of curriculum development and implementation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience and empathy in dealing with students of varying abilities and backgrounds.
- Proficiency in educational technology and digital literacy.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
- CBC retooled
