The Transfer of Services Process

When a teacher receives a job offer from the Public Service Commission (PSC), they can begin a new chapter in their professional career.

However, this transformation entails the transfer of previous service records and job histories. Here’s a step-by-step guide for the procedure:

1. Apply for a Transfer of Service.

Once a teacher has accepted a job offer, the first step is to apply for a Transfer of Service.

This application is a formal request to transfer an individual’s employment history and documents from the Commission to the new ministry. The application normally requires attaching the following documents:

Appointment Letter: A copy of the appointment letter from the Public Service Commission.

Acceptance of the Offer Letter: A signed copy of the acceptance letter indicating the teacher’s readiness to join the new ministry.

TSC Clearance Certificate: The Teachers’ Service Commission (TSC) issues this certificate to verify that there are no outstanding issues or liabilities to the Commission.

2. Processing by the Public Service Commission.

After the teacher submits their application for Transfer of Service, the Public Service Commission takes charge.

The PSC evaluates the application and validates the papers submitted. This stage ensures that all paperwork is in order and there are no unresolved issues from the teacher’s previous service.

3. Submission to the relevant ministry or department.

After the PSC processes the Transfer of Service documentation, it is forwarded to the appropriate ministry or department where the teacher will be engaged.

This marks the official transfer of the teacher’s service history to the new employer.
