Teachers Crisis in North Eastern as Parliamentary Group Convenes Stakeholder Engagement.

The North Eastern Parliamentary Group, led by Patron Hon. Farah Maalim and Chairperson Hon. Adan Keynan, organized a three-day stakeholder engagement at Serena Beach Hotel, Mombasa County.

The meeting aimed to address critical challenges affecting the North Eastern Region, which include historical marginalization, poor infrastructure, teacher shortages, and insecurity—all of which have impeded the region’s development.

The meeting, primarily attended by Members of Parliament from the North Eastern Region, concentrated on developing strategies to overcome the region’s long-standing marginalization.

The agenda focused on exploring pathways to promote inclusive development in the area.

Another critical issue discussed was the shortage of teachers, which has significantly impacted education quality.

Participants explored solutions to increase teacher deployment in the region, thereby improving the standard of education.

Strengthening Healthcare Systems and Human Capital

The group also addressed healthcare challenges, particularly the lack of infrastructure, limited access, and shortages in healthcare personnel. Discussions revolved around innovative strategies to enhance healthcare delivery in the region.

Empowering the North Eastern Region through education was also a central theme.

Participants emphasized investing in human capital as a driving force for sustainable development and social transformation in the area.

In addition to members of the North Eastern Parliamentary Group, regional leaders, including Hon. Major (Rtd) Bashir Sheikh, Chairperson of the Pastoralist Parliamentary Group, also took part.
