This is not the case with Mwalimu Malata Benson, the Kiswahili teacher at Musingu School in Kakamega County. The teacher of Kiswahili develops musical lyrics that transform learning into fun form.

The Kiswahili teacher who is also a writer and publisher of Kiswahili books has earned recognition in the country among teachers of Kiswahili who appreciates his innovative approach in teaching some challenges concepts. Students are left singing along making it the best reminder.

Schools across the country have taken advantage of inviting him as renown facilitator not only to candidates but also to Kiswahili workshops and seminars for teachers. 

“Mwalimu Malata Benson has made teaching and learning Kiswahili easier through his unique methodology. We invited him to our school this year, and he could spend the whole day with candidates from as early as 4.30am until 10.00pm. Since we began working with him, our school has been registering a positive deviation in national exams.” Said Principal Chilembi Chigamba-Waa Boys High in Kwale County.

Malata Benson who doubles up as a Boarding Master united the country early this year via a viral video, “Run for your life, run for your wife and run for 84”.

In the viral video, the teacher could be heard hyping boys at dawn as they run to class during morning preps.

“Learning becomes enjoying and successful. Quality results doesn’t come through wishful thinking but developing student centered pedagogical matrices,” Says mwalimu Malata.
