The National Industrial Training Board (NITB) hosted its third inauguration ceremony for new members of the Board’s Sector Training Committees (STCs).
The event brought together industry stakeholders with the aim of enhancing collaboration and advancing skills development through sector-specific leadership.
Shadrack Mwadime, the Principal Secretary (PS) for Labour and Skills Development, emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration among stakeholders to achieve national goals.
Mwadime, through a speech delivered by the Secretary Administrator in the State Department of Labour and Skills Development, Herman Shambi, assured the Sector Training Committees of the government’s steadfast support.
He commended the 12 STCs for their exemplary dedication as they took on their newly inaugurated roles.
Chairman Highlights the Role of Shared Commitment
Aden Noor Ali, the Chairman of the National Industrial Training Board, underlined the significance of shared dedication in fostering skills development.
He noted that the committee’s collective efforts aim to bridge the gap between the demand for industry-specific expertise and the available workforce.
Ali expressed the necessity of equipping people with skills for self-sustenance while congratulating the STCs on their appointments.
“I feel that we need to train our people so that they can work for themselves,” noted Ali as he congratulated the STC’s on their new positions.
Theresa Wasike, the NITB Director General, revealed that the 3rd cycle of the inauguration, spanning 2024-2027, has expanded the STCs to 12 committees compared to 9 in the 1st and 2nd cycles held in 2016 and 2020, respectively.
