TSC Announces Appeal Process for Terminated Teacher Interns, Issues Deadline
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced a comprehensive review process for teacher interns whose contracts were terminated due to desertion of duties.
This announcement follows a surge of inquiries received by the Commission regarding the status of these appeals.
Appeal Rights and Submission Guidelines
In an internal memo (Reference: TSC/DHRM&D/MEMO/14) issued on June 25, 2024, the TSC highlighted the following key points:
- Right to Appeal: Teacher interns whose contracts were terminated are entitled to seek a review of the Commission’s decision, as stipulated under section 46 of the TSC Act.
- Submission Deadline: Affected teacher interns are required to submit their applications for review to the respective County Directors along with all supporting documents by July 10, 2024.
- Hearing Panels: County Directors are instructed to form hearing panels consisting of at least three officers to evaluate the applications and make recommendations to the Commission based on the merits of each case.
Emphasis on Fairness and Transparency
The TSC Acting Director of HRM&D, E. J. Mitei, emphasized the need for a fair, efficient, and transparent review process.
Regional Directors are urged to work closely with County Directors to ensure the smooth execution of this process. The review process is expected to be concluded by July 15, 2024.
