TSC Asks Principals to Encourage Teachers to Apply for Upcoming Vacancies
Dr. Nancy Macharia hass urged school principals to motivate eligible teachers to apply for upcoming vacancies.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) CEO emphasized the importance of principals encouraging eligible teachers in their schools to apply for advertised vacancies.
“As principals, I urge you to encourage eligible teachers in your schools to apply for vacancies once advertised,” said Dr Macharia.
TSC Recruitment: All You Should Know in 2024
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) conducts mass recruitment whenever there is a need to address the teacher shortage in primary and secondary schools.
This initiative aims to bridge the gap caused by natural attrition and enhance the quality of education in Kenya. The TSC is responsible for hiring teachers for public primary and secondary schools in the country.
Minimum Requirements for Candidates from Latest TSC Recruitment
Primary School Teachers
Applicants for primary school teaching positions must meet the following criteria:
- Be a Kenyan citizen
- Hold a P1 certificate
- Be registered with the TSC
Secondary School Teachers
Applicants for secondary school teaching positions must meet the following criteria:
- Be a Kenyan citizen
- Hold at least a Diploma in Education
- Be registered with the TSC
Practising Teachers
Practising teachers applying for TSC positions must meet the following criteria:
- Be a Kenyan citizen
- Hold a P1 certificate
- Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education with two teaching subjects
- Have at least a C+ mean grade in KCSE or its equivalent in the two teaching subjects
- Be currently serving under the TSC

TSC Internship Recruitment Requirements
Teachers applying for internships must meet the following criteria:
- Be a Kenyan citizen
- Be registered with the TSC
- Hold a P1 Certificate for primary school teachers or a minimum of a Diploma in Education for secondary school teachers
- Possess original academic and professional certificates
- Should not have been previously employed by the TSC on permanent terms
- Be ready to be posted to any public educational institution in the country
- Have personal accident insurance to cover risks during the internship period
