Despite concerns raised by spot checks indicating some unpreparedness, Ms. Macharia stated that the commission is firmly on track to meet the deadline.
Teacher Retraining and Curriculum Implementation
Ms. Macharia noted that the commission has already retooled over 300,000 teachers.
This initiative aimed to equip them with the necessary content, skills, competencies, values, and attitudes required for implementing the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
“Due to cordial industrial relations between the commission, the union and other stakeholders, we have retooled over 300,000 teachers,” said Ms Macharia.
She attributed the success of this training to the cordial relations between the commission, unions, and other stakeholders.

“20,000 teachers are being recruited and the ministry has delivered Sh 17.6 billion to build the classes since October. The implementation of CBC is therefore on course,” said the CS.
