TSC Eases Promotion Requirements for Teachers.
In a recent development, teachers in approximately five grades will benefit from new waivers introduced in the upcoming promotions, set to be advertised later this week.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has adjusted the standard promotion requirements, offering teachers a shortened path to advance their careers.
Previously, teachers had to serve a mandatory three-year period before qualifying for promotion.
TSC Commissioner Dr. Nicodemus Anyang, speaking to a group of about 100 teachers en route to Kisumu for the Kisumu Teachers Fun Day, informed them during a breakfast at Hotel Suddex that TSC has now reduced this requirement by six months.

He encouraged teachers to take advantage of this window to apply, emphasizing the positive impact it could have on their professional growth.
Encouragement for Mass Applications
Dr. Anyang advised teachers to submit their applications en masse. He highlighted the benefit of focusing on career progression over engaging in strike actions, which he suggested could disrupt the education process and detract from students’ learning experiences.
Adding to the call for action, Moffats Okisai, the Executive Secretary of the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Busia Branch, expressed strong support for TSC’s decision to introduce these waivers.
He encouraged union members to capitalize on this unique opportunity by applying for promotions in large numbers.
