TSC Introduces a Sh.2,500/- Digital Training Programme for Teachers
In the most recent circular dated March 26th, 2024, the Teacher Service Commission (TSC) announced plans for a comprehensive training programme for teachers, secretariat personnel, and grade eight students.
The programme aims to provide participants with the necessary digital skills to efficiently traverse the new digital terrain.
The programme, developed in partnership with the Ministry of Information Communications and the Digital Economy, is in line with the “Kenya National Digital Master Plan 2022 to 2032.”
The curriculum includes a variety of courses, from foundational to advanced digital skills, with an emphasis on public sector requirements.
Dr. Nancy Macharia, TSC CEO, emphasised that the courses are self-sponsored and will cost participants Sh. 2,500.
Upon completion and assessment by the government, participants will receive a certificate verifying their newly acquired digital competencies.

The initiative aims to reach a considerable section of the population, with Phase 1 alone expected to train about 5 million residents.
The programme, which aims to educate over 20 million residents with basic digital skills, indicates a determined effort to improve access to and utilisation of government e-services.
All interested parties, including teachers, secretariat staff, and grade eight students, are encouraged to register for the programme using the following link: https://www.smartacademy.go.ke.
To ensure that this opportunity is widely disseminated, all regional directors, county directors, and sub-county directors have been assigned the job of disseminating this circular with teachers in their jurisdictions.
This project demonstrates TSC’s dedication to promoting digital literacy and preparing people to flourish in an increasingly digital environment.
