TSC Reshuffles Field Directors to Kick Off the New Year.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced adjustments to its field directors as part of its plans for the New Year. These changes include new appointments and transfers of officials to various stations.
One of the key movements involves Erick Magak, who has been named the new Nyamira County Director.
Magak takes over from Catherine Mwenda, who has been reassigned to Nyeri in the same capacity. Mwenda assumes her new role, succeeding George Thuo, who has opted to leave the position to pursue personal interests.
According to information obtained by Teachers Updates, Thuo, who served as the Nyeri County Director for less than a year, chose not to renew his contract with TSC.
Sources within the commission attributed his decision to personal considerations, describing it as both bold and unprecedented.

Some directors commended Thuo for standing firm against what they referred to as unnecessary pressure from senior officials at the TSC headquarters. However, they refrained from revealing the identities of the accused officers.
Additional Transfers and Reassignments
George Ekeno Kapus is another official affected by the reshuffle. Kapus moves from his role as Deputy Director in Kisii County to take up a similar position in Vihiga County.
This transfer creates a vacancy in Kisii, but details regarding Kapus’ replacement remain unclear. Kapus replaces Erick Magak, who now heads Nyamira.
Pending Retirements and Further Changes
TSC insiders revealed that additional changes are expected soon, as several directors are set to retire upon reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60.
Directors overseeing Kisii, Kilifi, Siaya, and Isiolo counties are among those anticipated to leave office in the near future. Additionally, Regional Directors in Western, Rift Valley, and Nairobi are also nearing retirement.

The Nyanza Regional Director’s position may also become vacant, contingent on the resolution of ongoing issues surrounding Jane Njage’s appointment to the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).
Njage was nominated by TSC to represent teachers at SRC but has yet to assume the role due to unresolved internal technicalities within the commission.
