TSC Set to Roll Out TIMEC Teacher Training on March 24th.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is set to commence the Teacher Induction Mentorship and Coaching (TIMEC) program training on Monday, March 24th. The one-day training session will accommodate five teachers per school, including the headteacher.
Training Venues
Primary school teachers will attend training at the sub-county level, while selected secondary school teachers will train at the county level.
Purpose of TIMEC
TIMEC is a structured program designed to enhance teachers’ professional conduct and performance through preventive measures. The initiative fosters teachers’ competencies in laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and ethical standards governing the teaching profession.
Promotion and Incentives
TSC has indicated that teachers participating in TIMEC will have a competitive advantage in promotions. Teachers completing the mentorship training will gain additional scores during recruitment interviews. The program also offers various incentives, including certificates of completion for both mentors and mentees. Mentors/Coaches:

Mentor Selection
Mentors may be selected from:

Mentee Selection
Eligible mentees include:
- Newly recruited teachers, including interns.
- Teachers recently appointed to administrative positions.
- Teachers with performance challenges.
- Teachers engaging in professional misconduct.
- Teachers being developed as mentors.
Mentorship Duration
The mentorship period will last a minimum of one year, subject to satisfactory mentee performance. However, mentor-mentee relationships may extend beyond this timeframe.
Dispute Resolution
- Disciplinary Actions: Misconduct by mentors, coaches, or mentees will lead to disciplinary measures per TSC regulations.
- Grievances: Complaints will follow the Commission’s established procedure and will be addressed by immediate supervisors.
