TSC Sub-County Distribution of 5862 Primary Teachers Vacancies: December 2024.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced the allocation of 5,862 primary school teachers across various counties. This distribution aims to address staffing disparities in Kenya’s education sector.

Regional Allocations and Sub-County Breakdown
Rift Valley Region
Baringo received 154 teachers, distributed among sub-counties such as Baringo Central (38) and Baringo North (32). Bomet got 80 teachers, with allocations including Bomet Central (17) and Chepalungu (18).
Elgeyo Marakwet received 90 teachers, while Kericho and Laikipia were assigned 130 and 111 teachers respectively. Narok was allocated 81 teachers.
Western Region
Bungoma leads with 203 teachers, spread across sub-counties like Bungoma Central (27) and Tongaren (26). Busia received 125 teachers, distributed among areas such as Butula (23) and Teso North (21).
Kakamega topped the region with 282 teachers, distributed among sub-counties including Butere (40) and Lugari (31). Vihiga was assigned 88 teachers.
Nyanza Region
Homa Bay was allocated 135 teachers, with Homa Bay Town receiving 22. Kisii received 153 teachers, spread across sub-counties such as Masaba South (26). Kisumu and Migori were assigned 176 and 136 teachers respectively, while Nyamira received 76.
Siaya was allocated 183 teachers, with major distributions to Siaya Town (42) and Ugunja (32).
Central Region
Kiambu received 241 teachers, distributed among areas like Githunguri (28) and Limuru (22). Kirinyaga and Murang’a were allocated 131 and 250 teachers respectively. Nyandarua received 145, while Nyeri was assigned 214.

Eastern Region
Embu was allocated 162 teachers, while Kitui topped the region with 301 teachers, spread across sub-counties like Kitui West (37).
Machakos received 263 teachers, and Makueni was allocated 215 teachers. Meru received 241 teachers, with Imenti South getting the highest allocation (51).
Coast Region
Kilifi was assigned 110 teachers, while Kwale received 76. Lamu was allocated 13 teachers, Mombasa 56, and Taita Taveta 51. Tana River was assigned 29 teachers.
North Eastern Region
Garissa received a minimal allocation of 7 teachers, Mandera 4, Wajir 13, and Marsabit 8. Isiolo was assigned 10 teachers.
Nairobi Region
Nairobi County received 167 teachers, with the highest allocations going to Embakasi (33) and Kasarani (31).
Other Counties
Counties such as Turkana and Samburu were assigned 13 and 21 teachers respectively. West Pokot received 56 teachers, and Trans Nzoia was allocated 104 teachers. Uasin Gishu was assigned 132 teachers, with Turbo and Moiben receiving significant shares of 24 and 25 respectively.
Addressing Teacher Shortages
The TSC’s latest distribution seeks to bridge the gap in staffing across counties, focusing on under-served and remote areas. Counties like Kitui, Kakamega, and Murang’a, with higher allocations, aim to enhance education delivery in densely populated regions.
This allocation reflects TSC’s commitment to equitable teacher distribution, ensuring all learners have access to quality education.
As the 2025 academic year approaches, these new deployments are expected to alleviate existing challenges in Kenya’s education sector.
