TSC to Announce 20,000 Contract Teaching Vacancies for JSS Next Week.
This new recruitment follows the recent hiring of 46,000 junior school teachers under permanent terms, as confirmed by TSC CEO Nancy Macharia.
She also disclosed that the commission would soon invite applications for teacher promotions.
Addressing the Education Committee of the National Assembly on Wednesday, Macharia emphasized the acute teacher shortage in Kenya, particularly in sciences, and noted that science teachers would be prioritized in this recruitment phase.

KUPPET’s Role in the Recruitment Discussions
The Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) announced the upcoming recruitment of 20,000 junior school teachers as part of its negotiations with the TSC.
“I am proud to say that the union has won more than 80 percent of our demands. As I speak here, the TSC is finalising the recruitment of 20,000 new teachers for junior school.
“This recruitment will be strictly for science teachers. The advertisement will be published on October 29, 2024, giving eligible teachers one week to apply,” said Mr Misori.
KUPPET Secretary-General Akello Misori disclosed this on Friday during the Kilifi branch general assembly in Kaloleni.
Following a recent return-to-work agreement, KUPPET and TSC have engaged in several discussions, addressing critical demands put forward by the union after a nationwide strike.
