TSC Trains Education Directors on Teacher Standards and Policies
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has organized a five-day training program targeting Regional Directors of Education (RDEs) and County Directors of Education (CDEs).
The program aims to enhance the oversight and implementation of teacher standards and educational policies across the country.
This training session, which began on September 16, 2024, at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD), will run until September 21, 2024.
Key areas covered during the training include the integration of Mental Health and Psychological Support (MHPSS) into schools and the effective implementation and assessment of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
Importance of RDE and CDE Roles
Prof. Charles Ong’ondo, CEO of KICD, emphasized the importance of the roles played by RDEs and CDEs in ensuring the successful implementation and contextualization of the curriculum.
He stressed that their leadership and guidance are vital in applying these educational reforms nationwide.

The training is facilitated by a team of technical experts from UNESCO/IICBA, KICD, and the Kenya National Commission for UNESCO.
Their involvement ensures that the directors receive the necessary support and insights to guide the educational reforms in their respective regions effectively.
