TSC Transfers Senior Field Officers Across Counties.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has implemented major transfers involving senior field officers across the country, signaling preparations for the appointment of a new chief executive officer in July.
This reshuffle impacts regional, county, and sub-county directors, with several officers promoted or replacing those who retired. Deployment letters are expected to be issued this week.
Joseph Japhat Kariuki, Nakuru County director, has been appointed TSC regional director for the Nyanza region, succeeding Jane Gatakaa Njage. Njage has taken up a role as the TSC nominee to the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).
Kariuki’s former position will now be held by Geofrey Matasero Chemos, previously the county director in Uasin Gishu County.
Nancy Macharia, the commission’s CEO, will complete her tenure on June 30, 2025, as her second five-year term concludes. Recruitment for her replacement is expected to commence soon to ensure a seamless transition.
County Directors Affected
In Busia County, Francis Saina Keter has been reassigned to Uasin Gishu County, with Jackson Ong’eto Atuti, previously the Baringo County director, filling his role. Meanwhile, Mirriam Jebet Kosgei, the deputy county director of Trans-Nzoia County, has been promoted to head Baringo County.
Mark Muma Arbelle has also been promoted and will now serve as Isiolo County director, replacing Jayne Wambui Mwaniki, who has retired. Nakuru East Sub-County director Catherine Kamawira Lenairoshi has earned a promotion as the new Kirinyaga County director.
Additionally, Nandi County director Regina Opondo has been transferred to Meru County, taking over from Mary Salome Ombisi, who will assume Opondo’s former position in Nandi County.
Sub-County Transfers
The reshuffle has also seen significant changes at the sub-county level. Catherine Nyaguthii Mathenge of Dagoretti Sub-county will take over as Nakuru East Sub-county director. Dr. Patrick Mutua has been transferred from Kinango Sub-county in Kwale County to Mvita Sub-county in Mombasa County.
In other movements, Ahmed Yussuf Ali of Wajir East Sub-county has been reassigned to Turkana Sub-county, while Matuga Sub-county director Mohamed Aden Issack will now head Wajir East. Kibwezi Sub-county director Gertrude Chao Maganga has been transferred to lead Matuga Sub-county.
Vincent Victor Nyonyesa Mamai, formerly with Lunga Lunga Sub-county in Kwale County, will now head Saboti Sub-county in Trans-Nzoia County.

Headquarters and Additional Changes
Further changes include the transfer of Maurice Abungu George Ochieng from Kisumu Central Sub-county to the Staffing Directorate at TSC headquarters in Nairobi. His position will be filled by Solomon Buyela Wafubwa, who has been reassigned from Turkana Central Sub-county.
These changes come as TSC aligns its leadership structure with upcoming transitions, ensuring continuity and effectiveness across its operations.
