TSC Verification for Replacement of 8,707 Teachers to Begin on 17th February.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is set to commence a document verification exercise on 17th February 2025 to fill 8,707 teaching positions left vacant due to natural attrition. This process follows the recent conclusion of promotion interviews for teachers in primary and post-primary institutions.

TSC Sub-County Directors have begun reaching out to applicants via SMS, providing details about the verification exercise.

TSC Teacher Recruitment Guidelines for Post-Primary Institutions (Permanent and Pensionable Terms) – 2025

Applicants are instructed to bring original and photocopies of specific academic and professional documents for scrutiny.

For instance, an SMS sent by the Tharaka Nithi Sub-County Director outlined the necessary documents, including ID cards, TSC registration certificates, KCPE and KCSE certificates, diploma or degree certificates, leaving certificates, official transcripts, and affidavits for name discrepancies.

The replacements are on permanent and pensionable terms. The Commission has allocated 5,862 positions for primary schools, 21 for junior secondary schools, and 2,824 for secondary schools.

The placement of successful candidates is expected to begin at the end of February and continue until May 2025.

Applicants are required to present both original and legible photocopies of the following documents for verification:

Primary School Teachers Required Documents

  1. National identification card
  2. Certificate of Registration as a teacher
  3. Upgrade Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (UDPTE) or PTE Certificate, if applicable
  4. KCPE and KCSE certificates or their equivalents (including certificates for resits)
  5. Letter of certification of results by KNEC, if applicable
  6. Primary and secondary school leaving certificates
  7. National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) card, if applicable
  8. Sworn affidavit for name discrepancies

Post-Primary School Teachers (Junior Secondary and Secondary Schools) Required Documents

a. National identification card
b. Certificate of Registration as a teacher
c. Diploma or degree certificate along with official transcripts
d. KCPE and KCSE certificates or their equivalents (including certificates for resits)
e. Primary and secondary school leaving certificates
f. NCPWD card, if applicable
g. Sworn affidavit for name discrepancies
h. Letter of certification of results by KNEC, if applicable

Special Considerations

Intern teachers only need to present their identification cards during verification. Persons with disabilities are required to declare their disability status and nature to assist in their placement.

After completing the verification process, TSC Sub-County Directors will compile a Merit List of all verified applicants. These lists will be made accessible to the public upon request while ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act, 2019, to maintain confidentiality.

Additional Recruitment Guidelines

  • Intern teachers employed by TSC will receive 30 additional marks in the recruitment process.
  • Teachers holding PTE certificates upgraded to UDPTE will be awarded an extra 5 marks.

The Teachers Service Commission aims to finalize the recruitment and posting process promptly, ensuring minimal disruption to learning in schools.
