TSC’s 5 Key Considerations for Immediate Teacher Transfer Approval

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) frequently assesses various aspects it deems relevant before evaluating a teacher for transfer approval.

When considering inter-county transfer requests, TSC analyzes specific details to use, particularly for delocalized teachers.

TSC generally prioritizes staff balance in each subcounty to avoid creating a significant shortage in order to meet the demand for delocalized educators.

TSC considers the following aspects to be important for teacher transfer approval:

1. Age of the teacher.

Previously, those teachers of 56 years and older were not legible for seeking transfer out of the area of their existing work stations; however, after the most recent but succeeding TSC delocalization, transfer requests of 50 years and older are authorized instantly.

2018 saw the transfer of several school heads in this age range out of their county.

2. The teacher’s health status.

TSC allows teachers with documented terminal illnesses to transfer almost immediately.

Teachers with chronic diseases, such as high blood pressure and diabetes, will have their transfers prioritized, according to TSC.

These teachers must present supporting medical documentation, evidence of availability, and accessibility to suitable medical facilities, among other conditions.

3. The teachers with disabilities

Teachers with the required credentials who were previously exempt from transfers beyond their sub-county are now given priority when applying for transfers.

4. The Teacher’s Family Considerations

TSC began considering family as a crucial criterion when relocating delocalized teachers back home.

Those who wish to make a request for this transfer must provide a marriage certificate or an affidavit as proof of marriage.

5. Length of stay since the initial appointment:

Currently, TSC can do transfer approval for a teacher who has served at a station for fewer than three (3) years in regular areas.

In the past, both North Eastern and other areas required teachers to submit a transfer request after five years, starting from their first appointment.
