TSC’s Minet Scheme Upgrades: New Teachers Medical Benefits and Improvements
The Teachers’ Medical Scheme, managed by Minet Kenya, has played an important role in shaping teachers’ lives by promoting better healthcare and overall well-being.
For the past nine years, the scheme has been a huge success in improving the wellbeing of teachers.
AON Minet Chief Executive Officer Sammy Muthui recently disclosed that the scheme has lowered mortality rates by half and dramatically reduced the disease burden among teachers.
Mr. Muthui stressed that Minet’s commitment to duty of care and cautious use of public funds has ensured the scheme’s viability over the past nine years.
Currently, the scheme covers roughly 370,000 teachers, their spouses, and dependents, helping approximately 1.3 million people.
The scheme, designed exclusively for teachers, includes developing illnesses and services such as COVID-19 therapy and in-vitro fertilization (IVF).
“The scheme is highly active, managing approximately three million cases per year,” Mr. Muthui revealed during a media engagement session in Nairobi on February 23.
Furthermore, the scheme has improved access to treatment by lowering out-of-pocket costs and adding burial coverage, which reduces the financial burden on dependents when a key member dies.
Furthermore, by investing in local healthcare infrastructure, the scheme has helped to grow the health sector in several counties.
