TVET Leads Recruitment Drive for UAE Jobs with upto 52K Salary to Tackle Unemployment.

The State Department for Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET) has initiated a recruitment drive targeting Kenyan youths interested in working in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

This program aims to address the growing unemployment crisis in the country while providing skilled labor for global workforce demands.

In a communication dated January 6, 2025, addressed to Nyeri National Polytechnic Chief Principal Dr. David Mwangi, TVET Principal Secretary (PS) Dr. Esther Mworia urged the institution to host the recruitment event and mobilize the youth from nearby communities.

Dr. Mworia emphasized the role of educational institutions in supporting government efforts to create employment opportunities abroad, describing this initiative as a strategic intervention to bridge skills gaps and stimulate economic growth through international placements.

Details of the Recruitment Drive

The recruitment will be conducted by Bluewave International Services Limited, an accredited private agency registered under the National Employment Authority (NEA). The agency has been contracted by Right Force Manpower Services L.L.C, a UAE-based company.

According to a letter dated January 3, 2025, the initiative seeks to hire 3,850 individuals for various roles, including steel fixers, masons, carpenters, civil helpers, scaffolders, waterproofing technicians, electricians, plumbers, and AC duct technicians.

Successful candidates will be employed under a two-year renewable contract, with work locations across six emirates in the UAE. Benefits include free transport, a food allowance, medical cover, and one day off per week.

Salaries will range between 900 AED (approximately KSh 35,000) and 1,500 AED (around KSh 52,000).

Amos Mbugua, Managing Director of Bluewave International, stated that applicants must be below 41 years of age, medically fit, and possess relevant professional certificates, including clearance from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Mbugua assured that the selection process would be merit-based, ensuring fairness for all qualified candidates. He highlighted the agency’s previous success in recruiting 300 individuals from Nyeri for jobs in Qatar in July last year.

Applicants lacking certain documents, such as certificates of good conduct, will receive support on-site, with DCI officers expected to assist in processing the required paperwork.

Additionally, arrangements are being made to enable those unable to afford air tickets to secure loans from the Youth Enterprise Fund, repayable after settling in the UAE.

Expansion of International Job Opportunities

This initiative aligns with the government’s broader agenda under the “Kazi Majuu” drive, led by the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, which seeks to place more Kenyans in international job markets.

Last year, Labour CS Dr. Alfred Mutua announced plans to recruit at least 10,000 Kenyans for roles in the UAE construction sector starting this year.

The recruitment drive underscores the government’s commitment to facilitating labor mobility and leveraging TVET graduates to meet global employment demands.

Candidates selected during the recruitment exercise will receive their appointment letters on the spot. They will be given a short window to complete travel preparations, ensuring a swift transition to their new roles abroad.

Mbugua urged all eligible youths to seize this opportunity to improve their livelihoods and support their families through meaningful employment overseas.
