TVET Principals in Coast Swapped in Major Leadership Transfers.
Education News has confirmed that five principals from Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) institutions in the Coast region have been reassigned to new positions in other institutions.
Coast Regional TVET Director, Peter Mwangi, revealed the changes during a recent briefing at the Uhuru Na Kazi building in Mombasa. According to Mwangi, Seif Hafsa, the principal of Godoma Technical Training Institute, has been transferred to Ahmed Shahame Mwidani Technical Training Institute in Mombasa.
Hafsa’s position at Godoma has been filled by Sabastian Bidigu, previously the principal of Ahmed Shahame Mwidani Technical Training Institute.
Further reshuffling saw Mariz Kimonyi, formerly the principal of Msambweni Technical Training Institute, transferred to Kinango Technical Training Institute. Victor Mchana, previously the principal at Kinango, has now taken over leadership at Msambweni.
At Kenya Coast National Polytechnic, Mary Muthoka retired from her role as principal and has been replaced by Geoffrey Andama. Similarly, Coast Institute of Technology principal, Stephen Ngome, has also retired, with Kalama stepping in as his successor.
The Coast region has also seen the recent establishment of Matuga Technical and Vocational College in Kwale County and Watamu Technical and Vocational College in Kilifi County. These institutions were launched last year as part of efforts to expand TVET opportunities in the area.
Mwangi encouraged Coast residents to take advantage of the available TVET opportunities by enrolling their children who completed Form Four in previous years.

He emphasized that these institutions are instrumental in equipping the youth with essential technical skills for various fields, preparing them for future self-employment and contributing to national development.
By centralizing skills training in the Coast region, the government aims to address unemployment and foster economic growth through a well-equipped technical workforce.
